Annual Veterans Day Luncheon Origins & History

Detroit Police Department Chief Chester LoganThe Annual Veterans Day Luncheon was started in 2007 by former Detroit Police Department Chief Chester Logan whom served as a member of the 82nd airborne in the Vietnam War. He wanted to honor and support past, present & future veterans for their service. The first Veterans Day Luncheon was held at the Northeastern District with only 25 in attendance. The event Has grown each year since.

Through the years, Fairmount Santrol & Leonard Syrup partnered up as a major sponsor to ensure the success of this event. This helped to afford items for gift bags for veterans to include hats, gloves, tshirts, socks, under clothes, toiletries and and other personal items. Each year the event grew in number.
